This will take place on Friday, November 12 because our students have Veteran’s Day off from school. The drive through lunch will be held at the Faith Factory in Salisbury. It will be from 11 AM to 12:00 PM. Please call the school at (814) 662-2733 to reserve a meal. RED RIBBON WEEK is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program.
Red Ribbon Week was started after the death of DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who in 1985 was brutally tortured and murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico. As a tribute to SA Camarena, high school friend, Henry Lozano and Congressman Duncan Hunter, created “Camarena Clubs” and the wearing of a red ribbon to show their oppositions to drugs.
Today we “Get REaDy for Red Ribbon Week, by wearing Red!”
Tomorrow wear sunglasses and neon, because you are “TOO Bright For Drugs!”
Here is your Red Ribbon Week tip of the Day:
The PAYS Surveys teens of Somerset County complete has given us the following information;
• Alcohol, tobacco/vaping, and marijuana are the most common substances used among Somerset County youth.
• Inhalants are the most commonly used illicit drug used among Somerset County youth.
• Vaping has had a significant increase in use. The majority of youth report they don’t know what the substance/ingredients are that they are vaping with.
